The EMPD Freeway Patrol Unit, while out on a strategic patrol, last Saturday, stopped a truck drawing a trailer at 11am, on the N12 westbound, just before the Gillooly’s Interchange.
Upon examining the vehicle, officers discovered that the trailer had a Germiston case number and had been stolen in 2013.
“Upon failing to provide a satisfactory answer as to why he was in a possession of a stolen trailer, the Zimbabwean driver was immediately booked in at the Bedfordview Police Station,” said spokesman for the EMPD Wilfred Kgasago
“Subsequent to the driver’s arrest, the owner of the truck showed up at the police station and was also arrested.”
The 28-year-old driver and his employer, from Alberton, who is in his 40s, were both charged with being in possession of a stolen vehicle, at the Bedfordview Police Station.
They were expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court on October 6.
