Suspect charged after attack with brick

Man attacked with brick while visiting friend.

The Primrose police recently tracked down and arrested a suspect in connection with the assault of a man in the Makause informal settlement.

The incident was first reported to police on September 13.

“Through hard work and determination our detectives were able to trace and arrest the accused,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

The complainant alleged that he visited a friend at his shack and, on arrival, found him at the gate.

While the two men stood outside talking, the accused came from behind the victim and, without saying anything, grabbed him.

“The victim claims that he fell to the ground and that the accused picked up a brick and hit him,” explained Maome.

The man vanished after the incident.

He was formally charged with assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court.
