Man arrested for January murder

Man arrested for Malvern East murder.

A 30-year-old man was recently arrested by the Primrose police in connection with a murder which was first reported in January, this year.

The accused was finally arrested on the corner of Geldenhuis and Park roads, in Malvern East.

“It is alleged that the suspect shot somebody with whom he had a dispute over a business matter,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer of the Primrose police.

“According to the witness, the deceased and the suspect agreed to meet and discuss business matters, but the meeting went sour and the accused shot the deceased and vanished.”

Detectives have been hard at work since January, following a number of leads.

They received information that the suspect had been arrested in Brackendowns, Alberton, for a truck hijacking, and was due to appear in the Palmridge Magistrates Court.Officers from the Primrose Police Station waited for the accused’s case to be processed and arrested him for murder.

The suspect was detained at the Primrose Police Station and later appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where his case was postponed for trial.

The suspect will remain in the Primrose police’s custody till his next appearance.
