Seventy arrests made in a week

Primrose police have their hands full.

The Primrose police recently shared their arrest statistics for the week of November 10 to 16.

The 70 arrests were made throughout the Primrose area.

Charges included:

  •  Possession of drugs: 5
  •  Dealing in drug: 1
  •  Dealing/selling liquor without a licence: 8
  •  Common assault: 1
  •  Business robbery: 6
  •  Arson: 1
  •  Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 5
  •  Theft: 4
  •  Rape: 1
  • Warrant of arrest: 1
  •  Shoplifting: 1
  •  Soliciting/importuning for the purpose of sexual immorality: 6
  •  Possession of suspected stolen property: 1
  •  Possession of an unlicensed firearm: 1
  •  Murder: 1
  •  Driving under the influence of alcohol: 3
  •  Drunk and disorderly behaviour: 1
  •  Illegal immigrants: 23

The station commander of the Primrose Police Station Col Mduduzi Khuzwayo congratulated his team on their efforts.

Most of the accused appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
