Members of the Primrose police recently arrested a 29-years-old man at a large Primrose retail store.
The man was charged with theft when he was found in possession of four pairs of pyjamas.
He had hidden the goods in a plastic bag and left the shop without paying.
A bystander watched the incident and reported it to store security, who chased after him.
The man was cornered on Rietfontein Road.
Officers were called to the scene and the suspect was handed over to them.
He was taken to the Primrose Police Station, where he was detained pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court.
