Police corner man as he shoots randomly

Shots fired at Marathon informal settlement.

A man from the Marathon informal settlement was recently arrested by the Primrose police and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The arrest was made when police, who were conducting a stop-and-search operation in the area, received a report of shots being fired.

“Upon their arrival at the scene police found the man shooting randomly.

“They cornered him and requested the licence of the firearm, but he was unable produce one,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

The suspect was arrested and detained at the Primrose Police Station.

He later appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.

He will remain in custody until his next appearance.
