Police warn the community to stop opening false cases

Woman claims she was kidnapped.

Primrose police are warning the community of Primrose to stop opening false cases.

This comes after a 24-year-old woman was arrested after her Boyfriend opened a case of kidnapping.

“He did so after he received a call that his girlfriend is kidnapped at Makause informal settlement and the kidnappers wanted a R1000 to free her,” explained the communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

The man rushed to the police for help, not knowing that the caller was his girlfriend herself.

“Officers followed up on the kidnapping claims and trapped the caller.

“We were shocked to discover that the caller was the woman claimed to have been kidnapped,” said Maome.

The woman was arrested and charged with perjury.

“After questioning it was discovered that she was trying to get extra money for Christmas,” concluded Maome.
