Sports development for children.

The metro, in partnership with the Gauteng Sports and Recreation Department, calls upon all pre-schools around the metro to register for the 2015 Ekurhuleni Kiddies Games.

The games, scheduled for March next year, are vital for the wellness of the toddlers during the early developmental stages.

“The games enable us to inculcate the love of sports, healthy living and prepare the children for a brighter future in sports as well as to build their confidence in competitions,” said the metro’s spokesman, Themba Gadebe.

Each pre-school is required to register a team of ten participants consisting of five boys and five girls, between the ages of five and six years.

Registration for the competition is compulsory and paves the way for young champions to participate in the first level of the sporting event locally.

The successful participants will then proceed to the regional level.

The registration cut-off date is on February 27.

The sporting activities will include ball throwing, hopping, kicking, dribbling, ring throwing and cycling.

Interested pre-schools may enter their teams by registering through the following area coordinators:
