Tip-off leads to arrest

Missing keys found during housebreaking arrest.

Members of the Katlehong SAPS recently arrested a 22-year-old man for housebreaking with the intent to steal.

The man was arrested in Spruitview, in Katlehong, when a community member alerted officers to a housebreaking in progress.

When officers arrived at the address, they found the man was still inside the house.

He was arrested and searched.

During the search, officers found a bundle of keys belonging to another house in the same street.

These keys had been reported missing a few weeks before.

The suspect was taken to the Katlehong Police Station and is expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate Court.

“The Katlehong police thanks the local community for coming forward with the information that led to this arrest,” said Capt Mega Ndobe, communications official for the Katlehong SAPS.
