Mayor visits injured scholars
Injured school children get a visit from the mayor.
The executive mayor of Ekurhuleni, Mondli Gungubele, visited Natalspruit Hospital, in Boksburg, on Tuesday, to wish a speedy recovery to scholars who were injured in a collision, while travelling in a school transport vehicle, on Heidelberg Road, on Monday morning.
Tshepo Moloi (18), who sustained a femur fracture, and Ntokozo Mabuya (12), who suffered a mandibular fracture, are among the five pupils who were critically injured when the two vehicles collided.
Twelve people — 11 children and the driver of the Toyota Condor — were injured when the Toyota collided with a truck.
The mayor wished the pupils a speedy recovery and encouraged them to focus on getting well, in order to return to school.
“Based on the brief I received from the doctors you will be back to school in no time,” he said.
“You must thank God that you have survived this fatal accident, because it is only through him that you are alive.”
