Breaking News: EFF supporters invade land in Primrose

Police and EMPD monitor land invaders.

Police have told the Germiston City News that on Saturday morning EFF supporters started erecting shacks on land next to the Makause informal settlement, on Main Reef Road in Primrose.

“The SAPS and EMPD were summoned to the scene and the land invasion ceased for a time,” said Sgt Mduduzi Nhlabathi, Germiston SAPS Cluster corporate communications officer.

“When the police left the scene, the land invasion resumed.”

Nhlabathi added that five people have been taken in for questioning and are currently being detained at the Primrose Police Station.

Negotiations involving the owner of the privately owned land are currently underway.

“The police and the EMPD are monitoring the situation as the road was barricaded and people were burning tyres,” Nhlabathi said.

“The situation is currently calm.”
