Update: Police continue to monitor land invasion situation

Police ready to move in if land invasion tensions rise.

The land invasion situation in Main Reef Road, Primrose remains calm today, according to the police.

“No further incidents of barricaded roads have been reported,” said Sgt Mduduzi Nhlabathi, the Germiston SAPS Cluster corporate communications officer.

“The SAPS and EMPD are still monitoring the situation and are ready for any eventuality.”

He added that the five men who were detained yesterday are still being detained and have been charged with land invasion, as well as public violence.

They are due to appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court tomorrow, Monday, February 23.
