Parents suspect foul play when daughter doesn’t return home

Doctor confirms rape.

A 24-year-old man was arrested in the Makause informal settlement by the Primrose police on charges of statutory rape.

The arrest was made when officers were contacted by the victim’s mother.

“She alleged that her 15-year-old daughter had not returned home, and that she had been informed that she was in a nearby shack, with a man.

“The shack was believed to be locked from the inside,” explained communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

Officers rushed to the address and rescue the child, who was locked inside.

“She was taken to a local clinic where doctors confirmed that there had been penetration,” Sgt Maome said.

The suspect was traced and arrested.

He was detained at Primrose Police Station pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrates Court.
