Seven arrested in Katlehong stop-and-search

Man found with fake guns in stop-and-search.

Members of the Katlehong police and Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit recently arrested seven suspects during a stop-and-search operation in the area.

Among those arrested was a 21-year-old man, who was found in possession of two toy guns and three plastic bags containing dagga.

He was arrested in Sontonga Road.

Officers were first alerted to the situation when a community member informed them of a young man threatening community members with a firearm.

The police are following up on similar complaints in the area, to establish if the accused has been involved in any more crimes, with special focus on armed robberies.

The other six suspects were arrested on charges of rape, assault, shoplifting, and possession of dagga.

All seven suspects are expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court.
