The Germiston City News has received a call from Andre Oberholzer, an Elsburg resident.
He claims the metro came to Horak Street, Klipportjie, Elsburg, eight months ago to repair the road.
But instead of repairing the road they filled the holes with sand.
This has results in plant life (such as trees) to sprout in the road.
In addition claims that after this repair the street lights in the street have also begun to work intimately.
The GCN contacted the metro on the matter and received the following reply from metro spokesman Themba Gadebe:
- Is the metro aware of this complaint?
“Yes.”
- Does the metro have plans to repair the road?
“The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s Roads Department has already repaired the road.”
- Could the problem with the street lights be connected to the repair works?
No, there is no connection.
- Is the metro able to get them working properly?
“Yes, the Metro’s Energy Department has attended to the lights and fixed them.”
