Police launch investigation after foetus is found in field

Foetus found in open field.

The Primrose police made a grisly discovery last Monday, when they were called out to an open field, close to Oak Avenue in Primrose.

The police were called to the scene by a passer-by who noticed a plastic bag in the field.

He stopped the car to investigate and found, what he believed to be, a baby.

The man called the police and when officers arrived, they found a plastic bag with what appeared to be a baby inside.

The baby looked as though it had been trampled.

The Ekurhuleni Emergency Services were called and personnel confirmed that it was a baby, but it had been an abortion, not a birth.

It is estimated that the foetus was between 12 to 20 weeks old when the pregnancy was terminated.

The Primrose police have opened a case of concealment of birth.
