Woman charged with concealment of birth

Community concerned over mystery pregnancy.

The Primrose police recently arrested a 20-year-old on woman and charged her with concealment of birth.

The woman was arrested in Main Reef Road, after a concerned community member called the Primrose police and explained that the accused had been due to give birth in December and still no one had seen the baby.

Officers traced the woman and during questioning she agreed to take police to the place where she buried the baby.

A blue plastic bag was found inside the shallow grave containing the foetus.

The Ekurhuleni Emergency Services were called to the scene and confirmed that it was a human foetus.

The suspect appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court where the case was postponed for plea and trial.
