Two confirmed dead in N17 taxi accident

Helicopter lands to transport patients to hospital.

Two people have been confirmed dead in a taxi accident which took place on the N17 west highway, near the Osborn Road on-ramp, this morning.

Kobeli Mokheseng, spokesman for  the EMPD told the GCN that a white Toyota Quantum minibus taxi was the only vehicle involved in the accident.

“Two people were confirmed dead on the scene and a medical helicopter had to land to transport others to hospital.

“At this stage we do not know the exact number of patients.”

The N17 highway had to be closed from both directions to allow the helicopter to land.

A case of culpable homicide has been opened at the Elsburg Police Station for investigation.
