ProBono.Org to host maintenance workshop at court
Learn all about maintenance laws and rights.
ProBono.Org is set to host a maintenance workshop at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court, on June 5.
The purpose of the workshop is to provide the local community with access to quality legal advice, including information about the basic laws and rights linked to maintenance issues.
Attorney Bev Loubser, from Bev Loubser Attorneys, will lead the workshop, which will include a question and answer session.
The workshop comes in response to increasing incidents of parental and spousal neglect, including individuals completely absconding from their maintenance duties.
The fact is that many children in South Africa have a parent who has actively chosen not to support them, despite a legal obligation to do so.
This workshop is just one of many ProBono.Org services which aim to link the poorest of the poor to legal services through a network of volunteer lawyers.
The event will take place from 11am to 1pm, in the entrance hall of the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court, and any community members with concerns regarding maintenance are encouraged to attend.
