World Environment Day celebrations happening tomorrow
Youth to tackle prevalent environmental challenges.
“The future is in the hands of the youth; but without a healthy environment, there is no future,” said the metro’s spokesman, Themba Gadebe.
“Thus the metro will, tomorrow (June 23), bring together its future leaders to converse and chart a way forward on issues of environmental health.”
Young people, both in and out of school, will be handed the responsibility of caring for the environment by participating at the World Environment Day celebrations, to be held at the Dinwiddie Community Hall.
“The young citizens of the manufacturing hub of Southern Africa are expected to debate and discuss pressing environmental issues under the theme ‘Sustainable Consumption and Production’, with the aim to shun environmental neglect,” said Gadebe.
“Pollution, air quality, waste management, green economy and water conservation are among the topics to be tackled during the brainstorming session and presentations.”
The activities of the day are set to start at 10am.
