A Rietfontein Road resident recently woke up to discover his car’s battery had been stolen.
He opened a case with the Primrose police after the incident.
“He explained to the officers that his neighbour had told him that he’d seen a man taking the battery out of the car.
“The neighbour allegedly asked the man what he was doing, to which the accused replied the battery belonged to him,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
Using the description given by the neighbour detectives followed several leads and a 24-year-old man was arrested.
He was charged with theft and the possession of suspected stolen property.
He appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
