From June 15 to 21, members of the Germiston cluster police stations, together with the EMPD, arrested a total of 84 suspects.
The arrests were made during several operations conducted throughout the week.
The accused were arrested on charges ranging from possession of drugs, driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of housebreaking implements, to theft, domestic violence, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, fraud, business robbery, armed and common robberies, malicious damage to property, shoplifting and possession of suspected stolen property.
Cluster commander Brig Phumla Mdlankomo thanked everyone who contributed to these arrests.
“I encourage members to double their efforts and to make this cluster the safest place in the province,” she said.
A number of suspects paid admission of guilt fines and were released; others will appear in the Germiston and Alberton Magistrates Courts soon.
