Thirty-six arrests made in a week

Primrose police arrest 36 suspects in a week.

The Primrose police arrested 36 suspects between July 6 and 11, in connection with various crimes:

  •  Shoplifting: 2
  •  Theft: 1
  •  Driving under the influence of alcohol: 7
  •  Assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 3
  •  Common robbery: 1
  •  Armed robbery: 1
  •  Common assault: 3
  •  Possession of drugs: 4
  •  Intimidation: 1
  •  Murder: 1
  • Malicious damage to property: 3
  • Resisting arrest: 1
  • Reckless and negligent driving: 1
  • Illegal immigrants: 6
  • Contempt of court: 1

Acting station commander Lieut-Col France Lepadima thanked everyone who contributed to the arrests.

Most of the suspects have appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

The illegal immigrants will be taken to Lindela for deportation.
