Woman hit in the face with beer bottle

Woman assaulted while trying to help her sibling.

A woman was brutally attacked recently when she came to the aid of her sibling in the Makause informal settlement.

“The victim explained to officers at the Primrose Police Station that she heard her sibling screaming and rushed outside to assist.

“It was then that she was allegedly punched by her neighbour and hit in the face with a beer bottle by his wife,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

An ambulance was called to the scene of the altercation as the victim had sustained serious injuries during the attack.

Officers were able to track down the 30-year-old wife and she was arrested and charged with assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

She was released from custody on bail, but is due back in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon.
