Police make arrest statistics known

Thirty-four arrested in a week.

The Primrose police have shared their recent arrest statistics.

Thirty-four suspects were arrested for various crimes in the Primrose area from August 3 to 9.

Crimes included:

  •  Theft of a motor-cycle: 1
  •  Driving under the influence of alcohol: 1
  •  Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 4
  •  Common assault: 3
  •  Business robbery: 2
  •  Dealing in drugs: 1
  •  Housebreaking and theft: 1
  •  Escape from lawful custody: 3
  •  Contempt of court: 1
  •  Possession of an unlicensed firearm: 1
  •  Pointing of a firearm: 1
  • Possession of suspected stolen property: 1
  • Possession of drugs: 3
  • Illegal immigrants: 11

The Primrose SAPS station commander Col Mduduzi Khuzwayo, thanked everyone who contributed to the arrests.

Most of the suspects appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.

The illegal immigrants will be sent to Lindela for deportation.
