Man linked to second charge following arrest

Man assaulted while out with friends.

A man was allegedly chased and stabbed while on a night out with friends in the Makause informal settlement.

The victim of the attack reported the incident to officers from the Primrose Police Station.

“He told officers he had been at a local tavern when the accused (27), whom is known to him, stabbed him with a sharp object,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.

“The victim further alleged that the accused approached them and without saying anything he took out the object and stabbed him, he tried to run away but the accused gave chase until he fell over.”

He was taken to hospital by ambulance, as he sustained serious injuries during the brutal attack.

Using the description given by the victim, officers were able to track down the man and arrest him.

He was charged with assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

“During profiling at the station it was revealed that the suspect is wanted in connection with another case opened at the Germiston Police Station,” said Maome.

The man has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court, where his case was postponed for plea and trial.

“Once this case is resolved he will be handed over to the Germiston police to face further charges,” Maome said.
