Local company creates stunning monument
Monument for well-known man made by local company.
Hawley Marble and Granite, in Rietfontein Road, Primrose, recently had the honour of constructing a memorial monument for Salomao Julio Manhica.
Manhica was a leading figure in Mozambique and lived in Maputo.
He wrote the National Anthem of Mozambique. The monument features a life-size portrait of Manhica and is made of SA granite.
It took three weeks to manufacture and took about three days to erect at the gravesite.
Collen Hawley, the owner of Hawley Marble and Granite, said it is a huge feather in the company’s cap, as people are willing to travel so far to employ their services.
