The hot topics of conversation on the Germiston City News Facebook page for the week, November 7 to 13, were:

1. Metro responds to water outage: https://on.fb.me/1WVR3lS

As temperatures continue to soar, many residents in Germiston have been left without water. The GCN contacted the metro to get some clarity on the situation.

You said:

  • Denise Malan: “Funny the article says those who don’t have water will have by 11th, what a load of rubbish today is the 12th and still nothing.”

2. Relatives urged to collect corpses from hospital: https://on.fb.me/1Ldg8Sx

Loved ones deserve dignified burials. Unclaimed corpses remain at the Bertha Gxowa Hospital’s mortuary with nobody coming forward to claim them. Family members and friends are urged to come forward and claim their loved one’s body, as pauper burials will be arranged should the corpses remain unclaimed.

You said:

  • Luzaane Lombard: “Truly sad surely someone knew these souls, a friend, family or neighbours? Hope they receive a proper burial soon.”
  • Karen Allan-Grainger: “This is so sad, more than likely some of these relatives either don’t live here or can barely afford to feed themselves (many living in informal settlements) let alone pay for a burial – desperately sad.”
