Blackball Pool Championships at Carnival City

Darren “Whackhead” Simpson appears at SA Blackball Pool Championships at Carnival City.

Radio personality and funny-man, Darren “Whackhead” Simpson, is among the cueists from across South Africa who descended on Carnival City’s Big Top Arena for the South African Blackball Pool Championships to compete for top titles.

Simpson, who has played pool and snooker since he was a teenager, is a participant in the championship on a wild card level and will once again be at Carnival City on Saturday, February 6, for the whole day.

Hosted by the Gauteng Blackball Federation, the event commenced on January 24 and will play out until February 7.

Professional cueists are competing in various categories such as men, women, u-23, seniors and masters.

Amongst them is the Gauteng Central Team, which is made up of Zane Khan, Leslie Monting, Chris Pandazis and Basil Moonsamy.

Daily action starts from 9am to 10pm and spectators are welcome.
