A 32-year-old man was recently arrested by the Primrose police and charged with armed robbery.
The arrest was made after the victim of the crime opened a case at the Primrose Police Station.
“The victim told officers that he was in Christopherson Road, in Wychwood, with a friend when they were approached by the accused,” explained Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.
It is alleged that the man asked to use the victim’s cellphone, but when the victim asked for the cellphone back the man refused.
The victim grabbed his phone back from the man and began to walk away. It was then that the accused allegedly grabbed him from behind, placed a hacksaw blade against his throat and demanded the cellphone.
Using the description given by the victim, officers were able to trace and arrest the man.
He has since appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court where his case was postponed for plea and trial.
