The Primrose police arrested 30 suspects in a week.
The accused were arrested for various crimes in the Primrose area from May 23 to 29.
Charges included:
- Assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm: 1
- Common assault: 1
- Possession of drugs: 10
- Theft: 8
- Dealing in liquor without a license: 1
- Malicious damage to property: 1
- Possession of suspected stolen property: 1
- Warrant of arrest: 1
- Contempt of court: 1
- Driving under influence of alcohol: 1
- Housebreaking and theft: 2
- Rape: 1
- Illegal immigrants: 1
The Primrose SAPS station commander, Lieut-Col Albertina Vesi, thanked everyone who contributed to the arrests.
Most of the suspects appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
The illegal immigrant will be sent to Lindela for deportation.
