Tip-off leads to arrest

Two men were recently arrested in the Mavimbela Section in Katlehong after police received information that the pair had been involved in a shoot-out.

Two men, aged 25 and 35, were recently arrested by the Katlehong South police in the Mavimbela Section.

The pair were arrested after police received information from community members that three men had shot at the owner of the Alexander Taxi Association.

The taxi boss managed to escape the encounter and described the suspects’ getaway vehicle to police.

Officers were able to trace the vehicle.

Noticing the police vehicle the suspects sped away and the officers gave chase.

They were able to corner two of the suspects after they lost control of the vehicle, and during the arrest an unlicensed firearm was found.

The men were charged with reckless and negligent driving, possession of a suspected stolen vehicle and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The men are expected to appear in Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon.

Police are hunting for the suspect who escaped.
