Help the Epworth children this Mandela Day
Epworth Children’s Home is appealing to the community to assist the home’s children this Mandela Day.
Mandela Day is almost upon us.
July 18 will see people marking the day by doing good works in the community.
Where will you be spending your 67 Minutes for Mandela Day?
Epworth Children’s Village is inviting companies and individuals to spend Mandela Day with the children at the home.
The open day will be held from 9am to 3pm at the home situated at 47 Ninth Avenue, Lambton Extension One.
“Come and spend some time with the children in a friendly game of soccer in the park, spend your 67 minutes doing homework or making lunch for the children,” said Roberta Ingrato, administration and public relations manager at Epworth.
“If that is not your thing, and you want to get your hands dirty, we have various projects that require attention.”
Epworth is urging the public to help them raise awareness and funds on Mandela Day.
“Our challenge goes out to all businesses, schools and individuals.
“Make us your Mandela Day project.
“Encourage your employees to raise R67 – challenge your company to match employee contributions.
“Be the one in your class to raise R67 and challenge all the other classes in your school to do the same.
“We are asking you for a minimum of R67 for an individual or R670 for a business,” Roberta said.
So far three companies, namely, Aristocrats, East Rand Listings and Harcourt Full Circle are on board for the project.
Other projects you can be involved in at the home are:
- Adopt a house by sponsoring something on the wish list or partner with Epworth to revamp or maintain a specific house.
- Adopt a project by either donating towards or sponsoring a project that requires attention in terms of repairs and maintenance.
