Emergency services honoured

Japanese ambassador honours emergency service personnel who aided the country after the 2011 earthquake.

MMC of community safety, Vivian Chauke (fourth from left), executive mayor Clr Mondli Gungubele (centre) and the Japanese ambassador, Shigeyuki Hiroki (third from right), presented the team with certificates during the recent council meeting, held at the Germiston Civic Centre.

Members of the Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services were recently honoured for their efforts in Japan.

The team assisted the country with disaster relief after the 2011 earthquake.
