Delvies come out tops
Delvies are the proud winners of the 2016 Golden Lions League.
Laerskool Delville’s first rugby team were the proud winners of the Golden Lions Premier League.
“The team ended the 2016 season on a high note after beating Laerskool Jan Celliers 21-10 in the finals,” said the local school’s sports coordinator, Jaco Botha.
The season began when the Delvies scored convincing victories against Laerskool Kruinsig, Laerskool Orion, Laerskool Concordia, Laerskool Fairlands and Laerskool Dalview.
Botha also said that the league was not the only thing the team scooped.
“We also took part in the Thys Bezuidenhout Rugby Week that was held at Bekker Primary School during the first term school holidays,” he said.
After the week-long tournament the team also finished in first place.
“We are proud of the boys, these achievements promote and the reflect Delvies’ winning culture in sports,” said Botha.
The school congratulates the team and the coaches, Marco Kleynhans and Botha, for producing these great results.
The hard work certainly paid off.
