On August 13, a 30-year-old man was arrested by the Primrose police after an unlicensed firearm was found in his possession.
After the arrest, officers discovered that the firearm belonged to the suspect’s aunt.

“She was unaware that the man had taken the firearm from her safe,” said communications officer for the Primrose police, Sgt Styles Maome.
Officers first noticed the man acting suspiciously in Rietfontein Road, during a patrol of the area.
“The suspect was seen talking to another man, but as soon as they noticed police they quickly separated and ran in different directions,” said Maome.
Police gave chase and were able to corner the man in Maroela Street.
He was searched and officers found the black and brown revolver loaded with four rounds of ammunition.
The man was unable to produce the firearm’s licence and was arrested and taken to the Primrose Police Station.
The suspect will appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon.
