Two dead, five critical after taxi shooting
A shooting on the N12 highway in Benoni has left two people dead.
Two people have been killed and five people are in a critical condition after a shooting on the N12 between Daveyton and Etwatwa in Benoni at 6am, this morning (September 20).
“Reports from the scene indicate that those killed and wounded were in the taxi,” said Athlenda Mathe, media liaison officer for Netcare 911.
“It is believed the taxi was travelling from Maputo to Johannesburg.”
Netcare 911 paramedics arrived on the scene first and then worked alongside various other emergency services to stabilise the wounded.
“Netcare 911 airlifted two people from the scene to specialised hospitals in Johannesburg for further medical care.
“Two people were declared dead on the scene,” said Mathe.
