Water and power have been restored to Filbert Street.
Residents in the road were left without water on November 7.
To add to the problem, the power to the street went out on November 8.
Residents desperately called the metro in the hope of having at least one of the amenities restored, however, they were left disappointed.
They claimed they were given a different reason for the outage each time they called the metro’s call taking centre.
“We believe that the problems are being caused by the demolishing and rebuilding of a building at the corner of Filbert Street and Rietfontein Road,” said Jurie Badenhorst.
The GCN sent a query to the metro’s media department to find out when the power and water would be restored to the street?
We also asked what had caused the outages and if the demolishing and refurbishing of the building were playing a part in the outages.
Themba Gadebe, spokesman for the metro, responded to the query, stating: “The power failure in the area was caused by a storm and, as a result, the pump station in the area was affected, leading to a water outage.
“Water was interrupted for a short period of time before a diesel generator was utilised to operate the pumps.
“We can, therefore, confirm that both water and power have been restored in the area.”
