Katlehong South police were recently called to an open field next to a customer care centre, where a community member had discovered the body of a newborn baby.
“The body was found next to a footpath which cuts through the field and it was determined on the scene that the baby had been stillborn,” explained Capt Mega Ndobe from the Ekurhuleni West Cluster.
A case of concealment of birth was opened and officers began to hunt for the mother.
The police are appealing to the community to come forward with information that will help in the investigation.
