Hats and heels for Autism

The event formed part of the BMW SA Open Championship.

Champagne met fashion last Thursday at the Glendower Golf Course when women from all walks of life came together in aid of the Els for Autism organisation.

The event formed part of the BMW SA Open Championship.

Donning their hats and high heels, women came out in large numbers to support the organisation, founded by golf heavyweight, Ernie Els and his wife, Liezl.

The couple established the foundation after discovering that their son, Ben, had the disorder that affects one in 68 individuals.

Under the Els for Autism banner, the couple launched the Ernie Els Centre for Autism to help families from poor backgrounds with autistic children.

The centre provides the families free access to an online, focused treatment tool called Rethink First.

The intervention utilises principles which are scientifically shown to be the most effective teaching tools for individuals with the condition.

During the event, funds were raised through a raffle.
