A pedestrian was declared dead on scene after being hit by a train at the Wadeville Train Station, on Monday evening.
Pieter Rudolph, senior district manager, emergency planning for DEMS (Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services) told the GCN they received the call at 6.01pm and immediately dispatched a team from the Wadeville Fire Station.
Information first received by DEMS was that two trains had collided but upon arrival they discovered that this was not the case and in fact a pedestrian had been struck by a train.
Emergency services are currently awaiting the arrival of the Elsburg SAPS for further investigation into the matter.
