Great cake competition

The Germiston Sugar Guild held a cake competition during one of their monthly meetings.

It was all things sweet at Germiston Sugar Guild’s cake competition, which was held at the AFM Church, in Primrose, recently.

The competition’s theme was “The queen is coming to tea”, which added some elegance to the event.

Members of the local guild had to pull out all the creative stops to impress the judges with their well-decorated cakes.

The competition’s judges were Sue Reid and Jackie Oosthuizen, who judged the cakes on appearance, texture and taste, among other things.

The top three prizewinners were:

1. Bernice Abrahams

2. Sao Azevedo

3. Helen Pepperell

The members meet every second Saturday of the month and others are welcome to join.
