Katlehong SAPS continue to curb crime in the area

Busy weekend for Katlehong police with the arrest of 34 suspects.

It was a busy weekend for members of the Katlehong police with the arrest of 34 suspects.

The accused were arrested on a number of different charges during various police operations in the area from February 17 to 19.

The operations were overseen by the Katlehong Crime Prevention Unit, with the help of the various Katlehong sector managers, a number of reservists and the detectives from the Katlehong Police Station.

Suspects were charged with crimes, including:

  • Common assault: 4
  • Theft: 2
  • Warrant of arrest: 2
  • Housebreaking and theft: 4
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol: 6
  • Use of a motor vehicle without owner’s consent: 1
  • Malicious damage to property: 1
  • Possession of dagga: 6
  • Murder: 1
  • Suspicion of being an illegal immigrant: 7

All of the arrested suspects appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, where their cases were postponed for various reasons.
