A Norton Small Farms couple experienced a terrible ordeal, on Tuesday morning, when their home was broken into by two men.
According to Capt George Raphulu, head of communications for the Germiston SAPS, the incident took place at about 8.30am.
“It is alleged that two men entered a complex in Cornelius Road and then gained access to the couple’s home,” said Raphulu.
“They grabbed the woman and pushed her into the main bedroom where they tied her hands.
“Shortly after this the woman’s husband returned home and when the suspects saw him one of them shot him in the stomach.”
The men made off with R1 000 cash, a bank card and jewellery.
The man and woman were transported to hospital, where, Raphulu said, the man is currently in a stable condition.
The woman was treated for shock.
Cases of attempted murder and house robbery have been opened at the Germiston Police Station for further investigation.
No arrests have been made as yet.
