Police, organisations educate community about drugs in Mimosa Park
Door-to-door visits talk to the community about the dangers of drugs.
It was all about educating the community last Saturday during a substance and drug abuse awareness campaign.
Members of Elsburg SAPS Social Crime Prevention, the Elsburg CPF, Victim Empowerment, the EMPD and the Department of Social Development, took to the streets of Mimosa Park.
Pamphlets regarding the dangers of substance abuse and drugs were distributed to the community during the door-to-door campaign.
“The awareness campaign was initiated after a number of cases of crime were reported, allegedly committed by youth from the area when people leave their homes to go to work or go out,” said Const Daphney Phooko, communications officer for the Elsburg SAPS.
