Trust destroyed by rape allegation

Germiston police arrested a 27-year-old male on allegations that he raped a 10-year-old boy.

Germiston SAPS members were called to an alleged rape scene at the Good Hope informal settlement, last Monday.

Upon arrival, the officers found a 27-year-old male, who was accused of rape, in the hands of a mob.

“According to the complainant, the suspect sent a 10-year-old boy to the shops for a loose cigarette,” said Capt George Raphulu, head of communications for the Germiston SAPS.

“When the child returned from the shops, the suspect allegedly pulled him into a nearby toilet, locked him inside and began to undress and rape him.

“The victim’s parents say the suspect is well-known and trusted by the victim.”

The suspect sustained slight injuries and he was arrested by police soon after they rescued him from the mob.

He was detained at the Germiston Police Station and the matter is under investigation.
