1. National News – Vodacom confirms angry viral video man was victim of fraud: https://bit.ly/2n0TYzo

According to Vodacom, Piet Malan, who is featured in a viral video ranting outside a cellphone store in Westgate Shopping Mall, was a victim of fraud. In the video, Malan can be seen repeatedly shouting “You take R10 000 from me every month”.

2. Local college honours its top students: https://bit.ly/2nYr18g

Boston City Campus and Business College Germiston is proud of its top students for 2016. The students were recently honoured at a ceremony at the college. The overall top student for Boston City Campus and Business College Germiston for 2016 was Olivia Conradie, who completed a one-year Boston short learning programme to become an executive secretary.

3. Klopper Park’s Francois is saving water by the tank load: https://bit.ly/2njkZR8

Water is a precious resource and all the residents of Germiston and the country have been urged to save as much as possible. Thanks to a brilliant idea, Francois Claassens of Murmel Street, Klopper Park, has been doing just that. “Last year I received a municipal account of 55 000 litres, where we normally use about 25 000 litres. So in December I decided it was time to make a plan,” Francois said.

4. Man allegedly makes off with goods worth R30k: https://bit.ly/2n0XZUw

The Primrose police recently arrested a 39-year-old man, on a charge of business break-in. It is alleged that the man made off with R30 000 worth of goods from a store in Rietfontein Road, in Primrose. “The complainant alleged that she closed her shop in the evening as normal and when she returned the next morning she found the store’s door wide open and several items missing,” said Sgt Styles Maome, communications officer for the Primrose police.

5. National News – Horror ordeal for 56-year-old woman bound, gagged during robbery: https://bit.ly/2ne43tX

In what can only be described as the worst moment in a Scottburgh woman’s life, four armed men broke into her home, tied her up, gagged her and covered her face while they proceeded to ransack her house in KwaZulu-Natal.
