Man arrested after violating protection order

Man violates protection order allegedly threatens to burn down ex-girlfriend’s shack.

Several Makause informal settlement community members recently came to the assistance of a woman after she was threatened by her 35-year-old ex-boyfriend.

It is reported that the man violated a protection order the victim had against him and came to her shack carrying a container of petrol.

“The man allegedly threatened to burn down the woman’s shack, but before he could do anything he was grabbed by several members of the community,” explained communications officer for the Primrose police Sgt Styles Maome.

Police were called to the scene and the man was arrested.

He was held at the Primrose Police Station, pending his appearance in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.

His case has since been postponed for plea and trial.
