Charles Galane (33) was recently found guilty on two counts of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and one of attempted murder, in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court.
Primrose detective Sgt Lesiba Konyana was credited with the successful conviction.
Galane was sentenced to eight years imprisonment, three years of which were suspended. This means that he will spend five years behind bars.
The Primrose police’s acting station commander, Lieut-Col Andre Jordaan, thanked Konyana for his hard work and dedication.
He further encouraged other detectives and officers to learn from his example.
