Two 20-year-old men were recently arrested by the Katlehong police for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, malicious damage to property and robbery.
The arrests were made in the Kwanele Section, in Katlehong, after the two men allegedly attacked a 69-year-old man.
“The elderly man claimed that he was driving when the two men stepped into the middle of the road and would not move.
“He hooted at the men several times and still they would not move,” explained Capt Mega Ndobe, of the Ekurhuleni West cluster.
Without warning the men attacked the vehicle, breaking the windows and assaulting the victim.
“The man was seriously injured in the attack and had to be taken to hospital,” said Ndobe.
During the attack the men allegedly took the victim’s wallet.
After following several leads, officers traced and arrested the two men and they were taken to the Katlehong Police Station where they were formally charged.
They will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon, on all three charges.
